Partnership tree planted by QTCU and Zoe’s Place

QTCU GM Mike Murphy, Zoe's Place CEO Shay Zulpo, and Mascot Filo QTCU announce a new community partnership aimed at raising funds and awareness for Queensland’s first and only children’s hospice, Zoe’s Place.

Wednesday, 6 February will see QTCU General Manager Mike Murphy and Zoe’s Place CEO Shay Zulpo plant a native Gardenia tree to mark the beginning of a year of fundraising that is expected to raise up to $80,000 for Zoe’s Place.

Queensland Teachers’ Credit Union General Manager, Mike Murphy, said he was delighted to announce QTCU’s partnership with Zoe’s Place, and that QTCU was committed to helping the organisation raise the much-needed funds required to assist families in need of end-of-life care.

“Zoe’s Place is much more than a children’s hospice, in that they offer unique care and support, including counselling, and palliative, end-of-life and bereavement care for families and their very special children,” Mr Murphy said.

“We are proud to present an initial donation of $20,000 to Zoe’s Place to kick-start our partnership with this well-deserving charity.

“The Gardenia tree will symbolise the growing relationship between QTCU and Zoe’s Place that we hope will strengthen as this partnership matures.

“Zoe’s Place understands the physical, psychological and emotional strains families face when one or more of their children are suffering from a life-threatening illness, and we are committed to ensuring they can extend that support to families for many years to come.

“We hope to raise enough money to begin planning for Stages Two and Three of Zoe’s Place.”

Mr Murphy said future fundraising activities would include member donations at QTCU branches state-wide.
