Melda Murchie

With over two decades in the banking industry and an open door policy combined with a desire to assist her customers, Melda has become one of the regions best loved banking professionals.

Banking has always been a challenge with many changes experienced in computer technology, lending legislation and branch layouts with staff being more accessible to customers.

Being able to help customers achieve their own financial success or long term goals is a priority and in particular assisting first time borrowers.  Time is well spent with customers explaining the processes and options available. This can be quite daunting to the inexperienced who are unfamiliar with a point of direction they are about to embark on which can drastically affect their future well-being.

Strong relationships have been developed with customers – many who continue to bank with Melda and the QTCU Townsville branch even if they leave Queensland or reside overseas.

As a QTCU representative, Melda is a member of the Townsville Chamber of Commerce and also participates in Commerce Qld’s Networking Events. A partner liaison exists with a local service club. Community involvement relates to QTCU support of local seminars and educational programmes.

Of interest to Melda is travel within Australia and overseas. From these journeys and video footage taken, editing is a past-time to produce a final production for family viewing.
