Simon read Genetics at Cardiff University in the UK graduating in 1996 with honours. He worked for the Metropolitan Police Service in London as an investigator between 1996 and 2001.
In 2000 Simon was awarded a postgraduate certificate in Criminal Justice Studies from the University of Portsmouth in the UK for his work in the field of economic crime. Among other roles, he spent time as a specialist investigator with the Economic Crimes Unit at New Scotland Yard pursuing major corporate fraud and money laundering investigations.
In January 2002 Simon migrated to Australia with his wife and young family where he formalised his expertise in financial services with the Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning). He became an authorised representative of Wright Global Investments in Sydney and a specialist manager of absolute return strategies in the fund of funds business in the Americas, Asia and Australia.
In September 2005 Simon became an authorised representative and Business Development Manager with Financial Wealth; a privately owned and run, high-tech and innovative, start-up financial planning dealer group. During his tenure, Financial Wealth expanded to fifty advisers and $1.5 billion in funds.
Simon worked closely with the Managing Director to recruit advisers, consult to their practices and build brand awareness in the market.
Simon is currently studying for the Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia). This qualification is a recognised fast-track route to the Certified Financial Planner designation.
