Financial Planning Process

Girl on phoneThe financial planning process begins with an analysis of your lifestyle priorities and goals, your QTCUFP financial planner will help you develop the most effective strategy to achieve them. They’ll go though the following steps:

1. Listening to understand your needs

Every individual has different needs and goals and their financial strategies will reflect this. You may be nearing retirement and looking for a regular stream of income to replace your salary. Or, perhaps you are looking to invest for your future, or the future of your children. Whatever your goals, we’ll listen and then help you achieve them.

2. Improving your understanding of financial issues & their effects

We believe that the more people understand about investment concepts, the better their investment decisions. Of course we’re here to help you make those decisions, but we think it’s important that you understand and appreciate the reasons behind them.

3. Understanding your risk profile

You’ll be asked to do a risk profile assessment. This shows the level of risk or volatility, of investments with which you will be comfortable. Using this information we can develop an investment strategy that will suit you.

4. Preparing a financial plan (Statement of Advice)

Your Statement of Advice is based on your personal details and your attitude to investment risk. It outlines the proposed financial strategy, summarises your current situation, financial objectives and if appropriate, provides investment recommendations.

5. Implementing your strategy

With your approval, strategies are then implemented. The QTCUFP team will help with the implementation process. This typically includes following up rollovers with superannuation funds, filing documentation with Centrelink and more.

6. Staying in control

Our continuing service program will keep you in control of financial issues. Your financial strategy is reviewed regularly and appropriate adjustments are made after discussions with you. A good financial strategy should adapt to any changes in legislation or personal circumstances. We encourage you to call us and discuss any issues that may affect your financial future. Our Investment Committee meets monthly (or more often if required) to review all investment recommendations made to clients. They use research prepared by external, independent professional agencies. The Investment Committee further analyses the results of the researchers to ensure that our recommendations are consistent with your needs. The committee is chaired by an independent asset consultant.
